To me, sunrise hikes are one of the most beneficial hikes you can do. Watching a sunrise can really help you physically and mentally. And the best part after a sunrise? You can go hiking right after!
I would suggest finding a hiking trail that has a body of water nearby to watch the sunrise and then hike the trail right after. Having a body of water reflect the sunrise is GORGEOUS. But anywhere will do!
Sunrises and sunsets have proven to help fight depression, stress, and anxiety. Sunrises are such a lovely gem that we take for granted. You will never regret seeing a beautiful view. Here are some reasons why you should do a sunrise hike:
1. Every single sunrise is different – You will never see the exact same sunrise. The colors will lay different every day. I think that is incredible. It’s always a different show and it will never get boring.
2. You will be in a better mood after - When you see the sunrise or sunset, chances are that it will put you in a better mood. It actually has been proven to relieve stress and have many physical benefits, so, if you are having a rough day, drive to your favorite spot and watch your worries wash away.
3. Healing - The sun can recharge you. It is composed of ultraviolet light which the body needs for optimum health. The sun stimulates the production of melanin, stimulates the metabolism, (especially metabolism of minerals) is good for helping glands that take care of internal secretion.
4. Gratitude - You are alive another day. What? "Big deal," you say? Waking up is a gift. I know many people who die in their sleep. Being grateful just to be alive shifts your perspective. You will stop taking your life, partner, children, friends for granted. Each day is a beautiful gift. Be grateful. Say thank you to the sun for rising on this gorgeous day.
Somehow the sun rising feels like it’s standing up, muscling up for the battles ahead; showing its bravery, showing its strength. And we all need bravery, we all need strength. We all need hope. Sometimes life is living from day to day, sunrise to sunset, moment to moment. Let the sunrise remind you that forgiveness exists, that yesterday is no more. That there is another day to live and make a difference. For yourself and someone else. Wake up tomorrow morning before the sun. Breathe in the beginning of a new day, a new life. And then go take a hike!
