Finding Affordable Gear
By Jennifer Reyes, Girls Who Hike Inland Empire Ambassador
When I first discovered hiking I was super excited to go out and buy my gear. I very quickly learned things could get expensive. After researching I found many sites that offer great gear at even better prices.
Here’s a list of places to start your search:
MassDrop (got my Gregory Deva 60L for $190!)
Moosejaw (now owned by Walmart)
Don’t knock the idea of buying used gear out either. I’ve found great things on Craigslist, OfferUp, garage sales, the GWH Facebook pages and even Goodwill and Salvation Army. Patagonia even has a used wear site where you can buy used (some are new) items as well. My boyfriend got his nanopuff down jacket on the site for $80 (originally $200). https://wornwear.patagonia.com/
