Tennessee - North Chick Blue Hole

This GWH TN hike will be hosted by TN Ambassador Victoria Godwin (cell 423-314-5158). We will be hiking and swimming at the North Chick Blue Hole in Soddy Daisy for a classic Chattanooga summer experience! The trail is fairly easy although it does involve a creek crossing. There are numerous smaller blue holes along the way to the largest one with boulders for cliff jumping and/or sunbathing. Unfortunately, this area has a litter problem, so I'll bring some grocery bags so that we can help "pack things out" on the way back.

Where: North Chickamauga Creek "Blue Hole".

Directions: From downtown Chattanooga, take 27-N towards Soddy Daisy. Take the Thrasher Pike exit, and turn left onto Thrasher Pike. After about 1 mile, turn right onto Dayton Pike. Stay on Dayton Pike for 0.7 miles then turn left onto Montlake Road. The trailhead is just before the switchbacks on the left side of the road.

Date: Saturday, August 18th, 2018

Time: Meet at 10:45 am EST, we will start walking by 11:00 am to hopefully beat some of the crowds.

Distance: ~1.5ish miles

GWH Trail Rating: Green.

Dogs: No
Kids: Yes, but ONLY if strong swimmers!!! Must sign waiver for them as well.

While this is a short hike, Chattanooga weather can be brutal in August so I recommend bringing at least 1 liter of water along with a swimsuit and/or a change of clothes.

Tennessee - Lost Creek Falls and Cave

Hey everyone, I'm Jenny, one of the GWH TN Ambassadors. I'm so excited to lead this hike to one of my favorite places. I've always explored this area with my kiddos so, I'm stoked to get to go further into the cave this time with you guys!

We will be hiking .2 miles to the Lost Creek Falls. Then, we will spend time exploring the Lost Creek Cave (one of TN largest caves). This cave is often recommended for beginners and has a high ceiling leading to the 40 foot waterfall within the cave. There are several miles to explore, but we will be hiking to the waterfall and back. It is very rocky requiring you to use your hands climbing over boulders. Everyone will need to bring a headlamp, backup light source (like a flashlight, all with fresh batteries), and a helmet of some sort. If we have time, we can also do the hike across the street to Rylander Cascades.

The first 10 girls to arrive will receive a fun GWH giveaway!

PERMIT: We will need permits to hike into the cave. I will be posting on the event page with details on this!

LIABILITY WAIVER: Don't forget to sign the waiver if you haven't already!-http://bit.ly/GWHLiabilityWaiver

FUN FACT: Disney filmed some scenes from the Jungle Book here!! The parking lot at the trailhead was built by the film crew to make it easy to get equipment down into the sink hole.

We will hike about 3 miles through a stunning display of wildflowers during their peak bloom. This hike is flat with a GWH rating of green and is perfect for beginner hikers. Ladies only please!
