I recognize that this isn't a strenuous hike, but it is a gem that I have never taken time to explore! Please feel free to discuss below in the comments if you'd like to picnic after our exploration of the ground! I'm down to explore and do lunch. Everyone should feel welcome. If it feels as though our numbers will overwhelm, we can divide into two groups and meet up for a picnic for lunch.

New York - Plotter Kill Nature Preserve

Hey, ladies! Here's another opportunity to explore the waterfalls of the upper Hudson Valley/Capital Region! Pack snowshoes because unless there's some kind of winter miracle, I think the snow is here to stay! This is going to be a low-key, flexible opportunity to become more comfortable with using your snow shoes on the trail. We'll play it by ear and adjust our plans as needed. For now, the plan is to do the entire 5-6 mile loop (the distance varies in every resource I check on this site!).

This Hike is led by GWH Ambassador Kristie!

Gear— as this is a winter hike, you must pack microspikes and/or snowshoes, extra gloves, snacks, extra socks, and one more layer for your upper body than you think you’ll need.

If we have sufficient daylight and motivation, we can check out the path to Black Bear Mountain (6.2 miles R/T) and earn our winter Fulton Chain Trifecta Winter Patch.

New York - Tinker Falls & Jones Hill

GWH Official: Tinker Falls, Jones Hill, + Beak & Skiff

Join us for our Girls Who Hike NY — Central New York Autumn Event!

10:15am - Meet at the Tinker Falls parking area on Route 91.

10:30am - Hike 2.3 miles roundtrip with 644ft elevation gain to the summit of Jones Hill.

12pm - Upon descending Jones Hill, we will check out Tinker Falls which is .5 miles roundtrip from our parking area. The flow might not be very impressive this time of year, but it’s still a great spot. There is also a steep stone staircase which leads up behind the falls.

New York - Giant & Rocky Mountains Weekend Trip

This Hike is led by GWH Ambassador Gwen! I'm really excited about this event. (sorry if the wording is a little "rough" it's been a long day). Any questions, just ask ... :)

This is the overnight event I've been talking about putting together. I reserved an Airbnb that accommodates 10. I will be limiting the group size to 10 people total for this trip. The price for 2 nights is $75/pp (to cover the cost of the cabin). If you want to reserve a spot, I'm holding spots as "first come first serve." If you want to reserve your spot, post in this thread and I will send you payment details, info on the house rental, and answer any questions you have about the hike and what you need to be prepared. You'll have 24 hours to pay to reserve your spot otherwise your spot will go to the next girl in line. You are responsible for all your own food, and way to get to the cabin.

Your spot is nonrefundable, but if you are unable to make the event you can transfer your spot to another girl. You are responsible for getting the money between you two ladies.

I know from personal experience that the town of Keene has horrible cell reception, and the cabin doesn't have wifi. It looks like a nice place tho. :) Once we're all there, I'm sure we will be carpooling to the hike together from the cabin. I can seat 6 in my car, and am happy to drive people to the hike and back.

Plan to bring your 10 essentials on the hike.
