Kentucky - Mammoth Cave Backpacking Trip

This event is hosted by Girls Who Hike Ambassador Amber Mudd! First 10 attendees will receive a special Girls Who Hike giveaway before the hike starts.

Don't miss the first ever GWH KY backpacking trip! For this first overnighter in backcountry we will be hiking the First Creek Trail in Mammoth Cave. This is a 4.5 mile hike from First Creek Trailhead back to the two sites next to the lake in Mammoth Cave National Park. We have both sites beside the lake reserved so we will have the area all to ourselves for the night. This will be a great trip for new backpackers and expirenced! If you have never been backpacking before this will be a great "learning" trip for you to learn from more experinced backpackers. The trail is also a good training trail as it is rated as easy to moderate. The following day we will leave as a group around 10am and complete the loop, 1.5 miles of trail and 3 miles of gravel road back to the parking area. This will total around 9 miles of backpacking.

Attendess will ideally have the following: a tent/hammock, sleeping bag, and their own food. Some suggested items would be a camp stove, sleeping pad, water purification system (although I am sure those that already have this will share), and headlamp.

More about supplies and other important info will be provided as we get closer to the trip and have the attendees in place!
