TRAIL NAME: THIRD FORK - WAHLSTROM LOOP
TRAIL RATING: YELLOW: Moderate hike, well-signed, elevation gain between 1,000-2,000 feet, low altitude. Novice hikers welcome! 3 L of water required.
DATE: 10/14/2018
TIME: We will meet at he trailhead at 9 am. We will plan to start hiking at 9:15 am. 
TOTAL DISTANCE: 9 mile loop
TOTAL ELEVATION GAIN: 1,500 feet
TOP ELEVATION: 6,750 feet
WATER REQUIRED: Please bring at least 2 liters of water although 3 would be idea. There is no reliable water access.

DOGS: Well behaved dogs are welcome on or off leash. Please bring water for them as parts of the trails are in full sun exposure and don't have water access. 
DIRECTIONS TO TRAILHEAD: Drive South out of Hansen on Rock Creek Road for 23 miles to Third Fork Trailhead on the left.
KIDS: Older, fit kids are welcome to come. Please be mindful that we will hike as a group and will want everyone to stay together. If you have concerns about your kids making the entire hike then please play it safe and leave them at home.
MED: Men are welcome to join this hike.

TRAIL NAME: North Fork of Hynman Creek to the Pioneer Cabin
TRAIL RATING: RED: Strenuous hike, possible unmarked trail, elevation gain of 2,500+ feet, altitude up to 9,500 ft. Experienced hikers welcome, semi-experienced welcome if they plan on training beforehand!
DATE: 9/9/2018
TIME: We will meet at he trailhead at 8 am. We will plan to start hiking at 8:30 am. This way we will be able to hike while it's still cool out.
TOTAL DISTANCE: 8.4 mile total out-and-back
TOTAL ELEVATION GAIN: 2,500 feet
TOP ELEVATION: 9,450 feet
WATER REQUIRED: Please bring at least 2 liters of water although 3 would be idea.

DOGS: Well behaved dogs are welcome on or off leash. Please bring water for them as parts of the trails are in full sun exposure and don't have water access. 
DIRECTIONS TO TRAILHEAD: Drive south from downtown Ketchum on Highway 75 for 5.5 miles. Turn left onto East Fork Road. Follow the road 6.9 miles, through the tiny town of Triump, and turn left onto FR 203. This road is also known as the Hyndman Creek Road. There is no sign indicating the turn, so watch your odometer. Continue on FR 203 for 5.0 miles to a grassy parking area at the END of the road. Just before the end of the road, you will pass the Hyndman Creek Trailhead on the right.

Idaho - Summit Creek

TRAIL NAME: Summit Creek
TRAIL LOCATION: Trail Creek Summit, Sun Valley, Idaho (detailed directions below)
TOTAL DISTANCE: 8 mile total out-and-back
TOTAL ELEVATION GAIN: 1,600 feet
TOP ELEVATION: 9,500 feet
MEETING LOCATION AND TIME: We will meet at he trailhead at 8 am. We will plan to start hiking at 8:30 am. This way we will be able to hike while it's still cool out. DIRECTIONS TO TRAILHEAD: Drive East from downtown Ketchum on Sun Valley Road. This road turns into Trail Creek Road. Follow the paved road 9.3 miles, at which point, it turns into well-graded dirt road. Follow the dirt road another 2.7 miles to Trail Creek Summit. Turn right and park in the large, flat grassy area.

TRAIL RATING VIA GWH RATING SYSTEM: YELLOW: Moderate hike, well-signed, elevation gain between 1,000-2,000 feet., low altitude. Novice hikers welcome.

ADDITIONAL INFO:
This hike is for women only. We ask that due to the distance and elevation gain that only adults attend.

Dogs are welcome so long and they're well behaved and friendly. This trail does allow for off leash dogs.

Please be sure to bring plenty of water and calories. I will bring a water filter and first aid kit.

Idaho - Independence Lakes

This event is hosted by Girls Who Hike Ambassador Michelle Sullivan! All attendees will receive special Girls Who Hike giveaways before the hike starts.

TRAIL NAME: Independence Lakes
TRAIL LOCATION: N42 13.11' / W113 40.39'
TOTAL DISTANCE: This is an out and back hike with 4.4 miles total. For those wanting to summit Cache Peak we will add on an additional 2.5 miles or so.
TOTAL ELEVATION GAIN: 1,400 feet
TOP ELEVATION: 9,000 feet
MEETING LOCATION/TIME: We will meet at 7am at the Searle's Gas Station in Oakley, Idaho. From here we will carpool or follow up to the trail head. We will depart Oakley no later than 7:20am. 
TRAIL RATING: YELLOW: Moderate hike, well-signed, elevation gain of between 1,000 - 2,000 feet, low altitude. Novice hikers welcome.

ADDITIONAL INFO ON MEETUP: This hike will have some sun exposure so please bring sunscreen, dress appropriately and bring lots of water. Depending on the group, we can advance on to summit Cache Peak which is the tallest peak in Idaho South of the Snake River. This does require some bush whacking and bolder jumping. If there is interest in hiking on, those members not interested are welcome to relax by the lakes. No one will be left alone!

This hike is dog friendly for both on or off leash dogs that have good manners, are people and dog friendly. 

This hike is for women only. Due to the elevation gain we ask that this be an adult only hike.

Please be sure to bring food and water with you. I will bring a first aid kit along for the group.

TRAIL NAME: The North Fork of Hyndman Creek to Pioneer Cabin
TRAIL LOCATION: 1.6 miles past the Hyndman Trailhead. GPS coordinates are N 43 41.162 W 114 12.391. A more detailed description is below.
TOTAL DISTANCE: 8.4 miles total as an out and back hike
TOTAL ELEVATION GAIN: 2,500 feet
TOP ELEVATION: 9,450 feet

MEETING LOCATION AND TIME: We will be meeting at the trailhead at 8 am. This trail is suggested to take between 3 hours and 4 hours and 30 minutes. With sun exposure at the top we will start early to avoid the afternoon sun. 

DIRECTIONS TO THE TRAILHEAD: As found for hike #15 in the Day Hiker's Guide to Sun Valley and Ketchum, "Drive south from downtown Ketchum on Hw 75 for 5.5 miles. Turn left onto East Fork Road. Follow the road for 6.9 miles, through the town of Triump, and turn left onto FR 203. This road is also known as the Hyndman Creek Road. There is no sign indicating the turn, so watch your odometer. ADDITIONAL INFO: Hey ladies! Come join us for a super cool hike up to Pioneer Cabin! We will meet at the trailhead with directions described above. If you have the "Day Hiker's Guide to Sun Valley and Ketchum" it is hike #15. We'll start early to avoid the heat of the day. If you would like to camp out Friday night we may be able to arrange that at the Hyndman Campground just off the same road as the trailhead.

Please be sure to bring lots of water, some food and sunscreen. If you have trekking poles this would be a good hike for those as well.

This hike is for women only. Due to the strenuousness of the hike, we ask that you not bring children. Well behaved dogs are welcome, both on or off leash.
