Colorado - Mt. Yale 14er & Mt. Princeton Hot Spring

This Hike is led by GWH Ambassadors Danielle Maxey and Liz Robertson

Summer 14er Mt Yale and Princeton Hot Springs

Come join us for a hike up one of Colorado’s 14ers, Mt. Yale! This is a great 14er for anyone who is new to 14er climbing but has hiking experience. We may break into two groups depending on party size as well.

For those who have 14er experience and are looking to do some beginner class 3 scrambling, there is the option for one group to stay on the ridge and get some easy scrambling experience.
If you don’t want to join us for the hiking, come hang out with us afterwards as we meet at the Princeton Hot Springs to soak and relax after a day of being high (up on peaks, that is!)

You don’t have to do one to do the other, but the number of people allowed on the hike will be limited to comply with Leave No Trace and Wilderness Guidelines.

To join the hiking portion of this event, you must reserve your spot through eventbrite. The link is below.

The cost of this event is free, but it does cost $25-40 to enter the hot springs.

Some of us may be camping near the trailhead to avoid leaving early in the morning, which you are welcome to join us, but it will not be part of this event.

Meeting Location/Time:
GWH Trail Rating: RED

Additional info:

This is a hike for intermediate to pro hikers that are use to long days/trails. We will start with South Boulder peak and work our way to Sanitas that way it is more downhill than uphill but don't be fooled there will still be plenty of uphill. This will also be an all day event with us starting at 5:00 am at the Shanahan Trail Head. This hike can take anywhere from 8 - 12 hours depending on how long we stop for pics on the way as well as snacks and lunch time. Ideally be done before dark which I think we can do. Make sure you pack sunscreen, plenty of water, snacks, head lamp, and a first aid kit. In the first link up above there is a quick what to bring but if you're an experienced hiker I have high hopes that you already know what you'll need to pack. Don't forget layers that are easily packable! It'll be cool when we start but since it'll be mid June it will warm up considerably during the day. Once I have a good head count of who is coming we can arrange car transportation as we will need to leave one or two cars at the saints trailhead so that after we are done hiking we just drive back to the Shanahan trailhead because ain't nobody got time to hike all the way back. I will also be making this a CO-ED hike so that you ladies can drag your men/men friends out to suffer with us :] I'll bring my Fiancé and probably me pup.

If you would like to do this hike I would suggest starting to do some longer hikes with some elevation gain to work up to it.
