California Inland Empire - Tenaja to Fisherman's Camp

Girls Who Hike Inland Empire Official Meet-Up
Tenaja Trail to Fisherman’s Camp
Address: Tenaja Trailhead

Date/Time: Friday July 6th @ 0800

This event is hosted by Girls Who Hike IE Ambassador Joy!

First 10 girls will receive special Girls Who Hike giveaways before the hike starts.

For this Hike an Adventure Pass is required!! If you don’t have one you can get one from Big 5, Dicks, or Rei.

Short 3-4 mile downhill hike above and along San Mateo Creek brings you to Fisherman's Camp (San Mateo Canyon Trail, Tenaja Trail, and Tenaja Falls Trail). San Mateo Canyon continues another 9.3 miles beyond the junction and you will find grassy stretches, cool Creekside oak and sycamore woodlands, and broad open areas. This trail provides some of the finest day and overnight hiking trips in the times of the year are fall, winter and spring. This trail is good for all skill levels and we will go at moderately leisurely pace! This trail is long but we will only be going down to Fisherman’s Camp and then turning around and heading back up. The trail should have a good amount of shade for a good portion of the way. There are exposed areas also so remember SPF and a hat.
There is a possibility that there will be bugs! Be prepared with bug spray 

Trail rating: Green (Mellow hike, easy to follow, elevation gain of 1,000ft and under, low altitude. Novice hikers welcome)!
Total elevation gain: 521 Feet
Total miles: 6-8 miles RT

Directions/Meeting Location/Time:
From Interstate 15, take Clinton Keith Road south to Tenaja Road. Follow Tenaja Road (right) southwest to Cleveland National Forest road (FS road 7S01, watch carefully for this turnoff). Turn right and follow this road about 1 mile (1.6 km) to the Tenaja Trailhead.
Please meet at the Tenaja Trailhead. It will be on the left hand side. The lot is good size and there is ample parking. If I remember correctly, there is also a restroom at the lot.

As always, remember your 10 essentials, water since hydration is key, and snacks to enjoy while we take a break.!
