GWH Trail Rating: Green- Mellow hike, easy to follow, elevation gain less than 1,000ft, low altitude. Novice hikers welcome!

Hi ladies! Spring here can be unpredictable, and we had to cancel too many hikes during the winter due to weather. So let's start off the spring with a hike up the stairs side (west side) of the Butte! This hike has great views of the valley and the Knik Glacier from the top, and it should hopefully be pretty snow and ice free by the end of April. We will update on trail conditions as we get closer to the hike - traction devices may be necessary. NOTE: parking is $5 even if you have a state park pass!

Read more information about the hike here: http://aktrailhead.com/bodenburg/bodenburg.shtml

Driving directions: From Anchorage, head north on the Glen Highway. Take the exit onto the Old Glen before reaching the Knik River. Follow this route until reaching the bridge; cross it, and continue for roughly 4 miles. Turn left onto Bodenburg loop road after passing the butte, not before (see below). After half a mile, turn left again onto "Mothershead Lane"; you will see the parking area on your right shortly afterwards. Take the road around to the left after parking, the trailhead is on the right.
