Meeting Location/Time: Meet in the back of the main parking lot south of the Visitor Center near the tree line next to the trailhead at 9:45AM. Hike will start at 10AM. Arrive early as this is the first day of National Park Week, and there is no admission fee on this day. 

Trail Rating: Green (Mellow hike, easy to follow, elevation gain of 1,000 ft and under, low altitude. Novice hikers welcome.)

This hike includes a descent of 97 stone steps down a steep ravine. If you opt to hike back this route, you will need to climb back up those 97 steps. 

The main portion of the hike will start at the back of the Visitor Center. We will cross Shoreline Drive, and pass by the remnants of the Shenandoah Pulp Mill. We are going to incorporate a tour of Hall’s and Virginius Islands, moving onward to the Point, crossing the bridge to the railroad tunnel, and returning back to Lower Town. You have several options for returning to the Visitor Center. You can hike back the way we came. You can take the shuttle bus. Or, you can discover the rest of Harpers Ferry on your own.
