It will be about a 10 mile (4 hour) float back down to M 72. If you've never been kayaking before, this is a great opportunity to learn!
Please let me know ahead of time if you need to rent a kayak or if you are bringing your own. This will help me plan for vehicle staging.

Colorado - Mt. Yale 14er & Mt. Princeton Hot Spring

This Hike is led by GWH Ambassadors Danielle Maxey and Liz Robertson

Summer 14er Mt Yale and Princeton Hot Springs

Come join us for a hike up one of Colorado’s 14ers, Mt. Yale! This is a great 14er for anyone who is new to 14er climbing but has hiking experience. We may break into two groups depending on party size as well.

For those who have 14er experience and are looking to do some beginner class 3 scrambling, there is the option for one group to stay on the ridge and get some easy scrambling experience.
If you don’t want to join us for the hiking, come hang out with us afterwards as we meet at the Princeton Hot Springs to soak and relax after a day of being high (up on peaks, that is!)

You don’t have to do one to do the other, but the number of people allowed on the hike will be limited to comply with Leave No Trace and Wilderness Guidelines.

To join the hiking portion of this event, you must reserve your spot through eventbrite. The link is below.

The cost of this event is free, but it does cost $25-40 to enter the hot springs.

Some of us may be camping near the trailhead to avoid leaving early in the morning, which you are welcome to join us, but it will not be part of this event.

Georgia - Hiawassee Sunset Social & Hike

This event is led by Girls Who Hike GA Ambassadors Cara Hurlburt-Ebeling and Rhiannon Bradley. Come out for an afternoon of fun and adventure in beautiful Hiawassee. This co-ed outing will include a meet and greet, drinks, and socializing all capped off with a sunset hike at Brasstown Bald. If you're looking for summer fun, this will be it! This hike will take place on what is listed as the prettiest but steepest part of the Crow Pass trail. We will be hiking from the Girdwood side up to the Raven Glacier Overlook and then turning around and going back to the where we parked, for a total of 7.4 miles or so. There may be low water crossings and we will be hiking in bear country, so please be prepared. Bring snacks, a lunch, and the gear you prefer and need for a long day in the backcountry.

This hike is open to experienced hikers and semi-experienced hikers that are up to the challenge. Since we won't be leaving anyone behind, we will be taking breaks when they are needed, for as long as they are needed. Unfortunately there is no way to predetermine this. If you plan to leave the group or are uncomfortable waiting for or hiking at the pace of other hikers please do not attend.

Directions to the trailhead: From the Seward highway, turn onto Alyeska Highway to Girdwood. At 1.9 miles, turn left onto Crow Creek Mine Road (gravel road). The trailhead is at the end of this rough road (about 5 miles). I wouldn’t expect any cell phone service at the trailhead or anywhere on the trail so please be prepared for that.

Georgia - AT Hike - Neel's Gap to Hogpen Gap

Appalachian Trail: Neel's Gap to Hogpen Gap: month 5!
This Hike is led by GWH Ambassador Angela Nouryeh!
This is month 5 of my Appalachian Trail series! This month we will section hike from Neel's Gap to Hogpen Gap.
This Hike will start at Byron Reece Trailhead and hike to Hogpen Gap. The hike will go over Levelland Mouintain and Cowrock. This is a strenuous hike and hiking poles are highly recommended due to all the rocks. The hike will actually start at the Byron Reece trail-head parking lot (.5 miles from Neel's Gap) since there is no parking at Neel's Gap. The Mountain Crossings store is here and you cannot leave your car here while hiking. We will need to carpool from Hogpen Gap to Byron Reece Trail-head in the morning (13 miles). There will be more information about carpooling on the FB post.
Join me on Angela's AT Adventure series for this challenging but fun day of hiking!
Make sure to bring trail snacks, lunch and 3 L of water for each day. Also remember to dress in layers, bring hiking poles and rain gear if applicable.

California Central Coast - Cathedral Lakes Trail in Yosemite

This Hike is led by GWH Ambassador Jenny Kotlyar!

This is the 2nd hike in the Yosemite series. The 1st hike is to Clouds Rest:https://www.facebook.com/events/255701601808605/ Joining both is not required.

The trail is fairly steep, rising 1,000 feet in about 3.5 miles. The trail is also located at high elevation, so the air is thinner, possibly causing those that are not acclimated to the elevation to tire faster, and fatigue. The view upon arrival is worth every bit of work it takes to get there. Cathedral Peak rises beyond a pristine alpine lake. Alongside the lake, a beautiful meadow filled with wildflowers adds color to this amazing landscape. It is truly a paradise.

California Central Coast - Clouds Rest via Tenaya Lake in Yosemite

This Hike is led by GWH Ambassador Jenny Kotlyar!

The best place to enjoy the view of Half Dome from the top. Cloud's Rest, a massive granite formation just northeast of Half Dome in Yosemite Valley, is famous for its very high degree of visual prominence in the valley as well as its razor-sharp ridge near the summit. For people who have hiked Cloud's Rest, they are most impressed with the thrilling feeling they have while scrambling up the narrow ridge, with sheer drop-offs on both sides, to the summit. The fastest way to day hike Cloud's Rest starts from the Sunrise Lakes trailhead on Tioga Road near Tenaya Lake. This will be a HARD hike.

This is the 1st hike in the Yosemite series. The 2nd one is on Sunday:https://www.facebook.com/events/354615845132242/ Joining both is not required.
