Oak Glen Conservancy to Wildwood State Park is a 7.6 mile easy/moderate trail. The trail is well maintained with spectacular views through the duration of the hike. The trail does have a steep 700 foot rise in elevation to Preservation Point, at the end of the Conservancy. There are many trails here and opportunities for photo ops. In mid Nov. we should see some pretty fall colors in our surroundings.

After the hike we can head over to Riley's Farm and shop, wander around, have lunch, pumpkin pick etc...

What to bring –
Please bring the 10 updated essentials
https://www.rei.com/learn/expert-advice/ten-essentials.html
3L of water

Sunscreen
Snacks you like to hike with
Please bring anything you feel comfortable and necessary for a day of hiking.

All level hikers are welcome. This hike is open to everyone. If you plan to separate from the group, this is not the hike for you. It's going to be a fun hiking family day and I'd love to stay together.

Inland Empire - Oak Glen Preserve

Hey ladies!

Due to such a great turn out last year, we will be returning to Oak Glen for another hike in the IE! This place is well known for all the apple picking and related goodies. We shall be going towards the end of the season so I hope it’s a tad bit less crowded. Please be mindful of timeliness because it does get crowded!

We will be starting at 8am but please get there as early as possible! Let me know if you have any questions!

This official event is hosted by Girls Who Hike Ambassador Naomy Ramirez!

Trail Information:
Oak Glen Preserve Trail
39611 Oak Glen Road
Oak Glen, CA 92399 or Search Los Rios Rancho if that doesn’t work.
2.4 miles – Loop
Elevation Gain: 423 ft
Top Elevation: 4,882 ft
For more trail info: https://www.alltrails.com/trail/us/california/oak-glen-preserve-trails

Meeting location: Entrance of the Oak Glen Preserve Trail. When you turn into the Los Rio Rancho there is a parking lot off on the right side—that is where the trailhead is.

GWH Trail Rating System: Green/Yellow. It is a very mellow hike with low elevation gain and excellent for beginners! However, it is at a higher altitude so please keep that in mind and hydrate before you go!

AFTER THE HIKE: It is apple season up in the mountains! So if you would like to participate in the activities at Los Rios Rancho (next door) afterwards, you are more than welcomed to do so (this is not part of the official hike)! I will be having lunch there after so please join me!

Extra info: There is MINIMAL signal on my phone while I was up there (I have AT&T). A little after the trailhead there is some signal, but otherwise I had no bars even at the bakery.

***In order to attend an official meetup, you MUST have a signed Liability Waiver on file. Please see the Group Rules for details/link to sign. It takes 60 seconds to complete and one waiver clears you for all meetups!***

Pennsylvania - Mt. Minsi

This hike is led by GWH ambassador Beverly Atkinson

There's only a couple more months of hiking left for the year. So, take advantage of the brisk weather and join a GWH hike before it's snow and ice again! I'll be hiking Mt. Minsi Sunday, October 28th. Mt. Minsi is about a 5 mile round trip hike. with about 1000ft elevation. This is a moderate hike since there is some rocky and steep terrain but totally doable for beginner hikers. I'll be taking the main trail up and there's an option of taking the main road or the fire road back down.

Here are some helpful links about this trail.

Black Rock Beach is one of my favorite beaches in Florida! This will be less about hiking and more about exploring one of the natural wonders of Florida. This event is open to children since it's a beautiful beach playground they'll enjoy. There will be a very short half mile hike from the parking lot though a shaded trail to arrive at the beach itself. Once we arrive we'll explore Boneyard Beach where old trees have fallen on the beach and have been bleached by the sun and salt water. Then we'll retrace our steps to Black Rock where we can explore the black rock itself which is acutally compressed sand and decayed leaves. I guestimate we'll do around 3 miles of walking exploring this beautiful beach. Please bring $3 for parking at the trailhead.

Please be sure to bring at least 2 liters of water per person and lots of sunblock. There is no shade on the beach, so sun protection is important.
